New Cardiology Office Opens in North Port, FL

Cardiologist/electro-physiologist specializing in heart rhythms opens new office in North Port. Accepting new patients.

(July 26, 2024) Those in North Port now have a new option when it comes to cardiology care with the opening of ShorePoint Medical Group Cardiology at 18659 Tamiami Trail. Porur Somasundaram M.D., (Dr. Som), is practicing at the location and recently celebrated the opening with the North Port Chamber of Commerce, colleagues and community members.

Som is board certified in internal medicine, cardiology and clinical electrophysiology. He recently moved to the West Coast of Florida to join ShorePoint Medical Group. He evaluates and treats a variety of cardiology conditions, including adult congenital heart defects. His particular area of interest relates to the electrical system in the heart – utilizing advanced techniques to stabilize heart rhythms. Som not only helps patients manage heart issues, but also helps positively impact their quality of life.

Som earned his medical degree at the University of Madras, India, and completed his residency at the Millard Fillmore Hospital at the State University of New York, in Buffalo, NY.
