ShorePoint Health Port Charlotte Has Been Recognized by SRC for Sustaining a Culture of Excellence in Colorectal Surgery and Endoscopy

ShorePoint Health Port Charlotte has been recognized as an accredited Center of Excellence in Colorectal Surgery (since 2018) and Endoscopy (since 2019) by the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC).
“This achievement is a testament to the highest quality of care and patient safety provided by ShorePoint Health Port Charlotte,” said Domingo E. Galliano, Jr., M.D., FACS, FASCRS. Dr. Galliano is both the medical director of ShorePoint Health Port Charlotte’s Colorectal Center of Excellence and director of robotic surgery. He is an independent member of the medical staff and has also been awarded the distinction of master surgeon in colorectal surgery by SRC.
Status as an accredited SRC Center of Excellence means that ShorePoint Health Port Charlotte has met national and internationally recognized standards. Not all hospitals and surgeons seek accreditation; not all that undergo the rigorous inspection process are granted accreditation.
Health care facilities and surgeons seeking an SRC accreditation undergo an extensive assessment and inspection process to ensure the applicant meets SRC’s proven standards and requirements. These requirements include surgical volumes, facility equipment, clinical pathways and standardized operating procedures, an emphasis on patient education and continuous quality assessment. The inspection involves all staff working in the accredited program. Inspectors educate staff on best practices to help an organization improve its care and services.
