When Danielle found out she was pregnant with her second child, the excitement began. She quickly calculated her due date, found an obstetrician and chose her birthing facility. At 30 weeks pregnant, however, she was hospitalized for a kidney infection at ShorePoint Health Port Charlotte. During her stay, she met Jerome Sturm, M.D., FACOG, board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist with Comprehensive Women’s Health Care, since he was the on-call physician.

Sarah was more than ready when her big day came. “Dr. Sturm was amazing in preparing me and supporting my decision to have a natural child birth,” she says. “This is my first child so having a natural labor and birth was important to me so that I could be an active participant the entire time. Dr. Sturm was supportive from our first meeting through the delivery of my son at ShorePoint Baby Place. He coached me every step of the way.”

“Our experience was definitely interesting but awesome,” says Charleen on the day leading up to the birth of her first child. “We checked in during the early hours on Sept 7. Our nerves and stress levels were pretty high as Hurricane Irma was approaching as a direct hit to the west coast of Florida. And, with being first time parents, we had plenty of questions.”
What makes this day even more special is that Amelia Charlotte, born September 7 at 8:29 p.m., came into this world in the same hospital as her parents Curtis and Charleen some 30 years prior.
